into their very harbors, and sank or captured all
their ships. He radioed Gray Boar. "It cost us half our ships," he
announced, "and one-fourth of our people, but the water is ours!"
205 Now, three great Armies moved at once, one towards Thousands, one
towards Repentance, and one towards Sorrow. Again the fighting was
terrible, but the enemy's air force, like his navy, was virtually
destroyed. The Children of Spirit ruled the air, and they took every
advantage of it. And the Land here, was open and flat. There were no
passes for the enemy to hold, no hills or swamps for him to hide in.
Soon, his cities were rubble, and under the cover of darkness he
withdrew, night after night, slipping his people along the roads and
through the mountains.
206 Thousands fell, Repentance fell, Sorrow fell. By the time they reached Suffer it was deserted. Pity fell after only a
day. At Vengeance, however, the enemy held for six bitter weeks.
207 For the first time they used Death Soldiers; men and sometimes even
women in light vehicles loaded with explosives would rush out of hiding
places and ram the tanks. From somewhere they gathered hundreds of
light planes and one night hit The Children of Spirit hard.
208 But finally The Children of Spirit marched through Vengeance. Gray
Boar had cleared the enemy from two Lands. Now, he sat his eyes on
their homeland.
209 Regathering his forces, he came down into Fr. The enemy navy here
was stronger than it had been to the east. It could not be easily dealt
with. but in three terrible battles, one off Faith, one near Frs, and
one in The Narrows approaching Trinity, the enemy was destroyed. The
Children of Spirit ruled the water.
210 Now, a massive force waited just below Misery. Gray Boar
sent a message to The Priest of Priests. "Will you," he asked ,
"concede? We will give you honorable terms."
