man came out of his hiding place, but he was no
longer blind. The Light of The Spear had opened his eyes.
48 'Do not any of you understand?' he cried, 'Groam has drawn the Spear
from the Stone. Groam, put it back.'
49 Groam went to do so, and to his surprise, there was no slit! The
stone was smooth, unmarked. 'I can't' explained Groam.
50 The blind man fell to his knees. 'Hail!' he cried, 'The King of Kings, The Lord of Lords!' And all the people
bowed down.
51 So it was, Groam became King. He combined his armies and marched to
The Wonderful Ones' land. They found it a place of barren, fruitless
rock. Even their city was not beautiful, only a great fortress. There
were only the old and the women in it, and the treasure that The
Wonderful Ones had stolen from other lands. The women begged mercy.
52 'Come,' commanded Groam, 'we will not leave you here to starve. We
will take you home and make you our mates!'
53 Some of the women complained they would rather die, but Speaktruth's
sister rebuked them. 'You begged for life,' she said, 'but you will not
pay the price. I surrender to my Lord, and beg his kind treatment.'
54 Groam could not resist. he took the Spear and held it aloft only for
a moment. The women of The Wonderful Ones saw what Groam's people were
within, and what they were. Only one woman kept her beauty. And that
