all summer, digging and building while the dust
storms raged above them. The windmills designed by Brown Goat brought them a steady supply of fresh air.
45 Season after season the passage grew. Before it was even completely
finished it was already being used. At the mid point a city began to
grow. For in their digging, an underground river was found that made
the hills of the desert bloom in winter. Not many crops could be grown
in the shifting sand, but those that could, flourished.
46 Many had thought the whole idea an absurdity, but the day that Brown
Goat entered the Trn end and journeyed down to Mu to visit its King in
mid-summer was made a Great Holiday.
47 Now, never would the people of Mu ever be cut off from their friends
in the north by the blowing mountains of summer, and this year-round
trade route brought more business to The Land of Spirit. Their
prosperity became greater than ever. But jealous eyes watched them, and
with every advancement their good works brought them, the lazy and the
evil hated them more and more.
