a burned out city, but if the defenders had known
The Oneness' reason for wanting this city, they would have fought far
harder. The Oneness had discovered a passage through the mountains to
the east, and kept that discovery a secret. Now their forces poured
through.
10 The unprepared cities on the other side who had not known war for
many generations, were no match for their fighting skill. Tm fell, Tr
fell, Fi fell, Fs fell, and Tim fell, but here The Oneness was
stopped. Every people of those lands sent forces, knowing that their
very existence depended on their efforts.
11 They stood their ground, and the armies of The Oneness were beaten
back, but not before they had done their harm. The men of the captured
cities were given a choice.
12 "Fight for us in other lands," commanded The Oneness, "and have your
sons and daughters absorbed, or watch us
cut them to pieces a little piece
at a time. Decide now, and do not even consider betrayal, for if you
do, your wives, your daughters, your sisters and mothers will pay the
price."
13 Reluctantly these poor men marched off to do battle for The Oneness,
while the men of The Oneness stayed in their cities to mate with their
young daughters. Absorption had begun.
14 The Oneness had another surprise, too. They had found a passage to
the west, as well as to the east, and had built roads through the
mountains. Just as fall began, they poured through into Mu.
15 So quickly did they come, that Lkf fell the first day. And they
rushed towards Len and soon had it besieged.
But as they came down on Mk, they found The Children of Spirit in the
field. They had been mobilizing to march on The Oneness' homeland, but
now, instead,
they met this new attack.
