Roaring Turtle, took over, and fought for three more days until he was
so severely wounded that he would spend the rest of his days in a bed.
Another Warlock, Gray Toad, took command , but ordered a withdrawal
toward Fr. The enemy pursued and even disengaging was difficult.
22 Finally Gray Toad spread his forces out in a great line where the
road from the north met the road to Fr. Here, they fought for ten days. When it was over, The Oneness
withdrew, but also did The Children of Spirit. Gray Toad was dead. Over
half their army were killed or wounded. Now none of the surviving
Warlocks would take command.
23 So Bay Blossom Hawk took authority. She scattered what was left of
the army through her defenses and sent word north she needed a good
Warlock.
24 In Mu eight times they tried to break through the enemy's passes,
and eight times were driven back. Six times they tried to cross the
river and take Len but again failed. The Zoans made no headway, either.
Though they kept the enemy from advancing they couldn't
regain any territory.
25 Back in Northern Brown Goat received every message with tears.
Most of his best friends had been killed or crippled. He was not a man
of war. He needed a Warlock of exceptional skill, one who would not try
to use brawn, but one who would use his wits. His Council suggested
hundreds, but could not give him one name in particular. Where was the
one they needed?
26 As they discussed, Dancing Crow, the son of one of his councilmen
rose. "Lord ," he announced "I have had a Dream."
27 "My son!" inquired his father, "Why have you not spoken sooner!"
28 "My father," explained the young man, "you know
