For though he had long worked for The Temple and
loved The Lords, he feared Their Powers. He did not want to see things
that were to happen, or, things that had been. He did not want
thousands of lives to depend on his falsities.
37 But as he neared The Spring, on the road before him all that he had
Dreamed came to pass, exactly as he had seen it! As the young Warlock
stood brushing himself off, Dancing Crow came up. "I can be of
assistance," he suggested, "with the men with me, and, your own
together, we can lift the cart and put back the wheel!"
38 "Your assistance," announced The Warlock, "will be appreciated,
indeed. My men are weary from our long march down out of the hills, and
we have a great way to go yet. We are replacements heading south to
join the fighting."
39 When the wheel was back on The Warlock turned to his befriender.
"Tell me," he inquired, "what is an Adviser of The First Speaker's
Council doing way out here?"
40 "I have come," said Dancing Crow, "to find a Warlock who fell on his
butt, and, whose name means 'The Roaring Wind, The Terrible Storm.'
For I dreamed a Dream, and The Lords told me that this man should lead
our people in the great struggle they now face. I was sent by The First Speaker to find him."
41 "Well, you've found him!" explained the other Warlock. "This is
Thundering Dove, so named because of the great storm that tore apart
our village the night he was born.
42 They thought all was going to be destroyed. The whirling wind was
coming straight for the gate, but then he broke forth from his egg,
