6 "Bring her in," commanded Thundering Dove.
7 When the young woman entered Bay Blossom recognized her. She was the
woman from the bath house. "All right," demanded Thundering Dove, "what
information do you have?"
8 "First we bargain," the woman objected. "Your beautiful lady said you
would pay any price. I want A LOT. I may hate my people, but I have kin
on the battlefield."
9 "What is your price?" demanded Thundering Dove, "And, what is your
name?"
10 "I am Little Blossom Crow," the woman answered. "I want a large
estate with a fine mansion, herds, and land to rent so I may live like
a great lady. And, I wish citizenship in your land so I may be treated
like your women."
11 "Perhaps," objected Thundering Dove, "I can arrange the estate, the
cattle, and, land, but I can't make you a citizen. You would have to
study
The Law, and take The Tests like any of our children. Then, you could
become a citizen. But I can make you a free foreigner, and that would
give you every privilege except voting."
12 "I suppose," agreed the woman, "that is acceptable."
13 One of the other Warlocks rose. "Lord," he announced, "I have such
an estate as she desires. It is not as valuable to me as the lives of
my people. It provides an income of about twenty silver a year. Would
that be sufficient?"
14 "If two-hundred-and-fifty gold were thrown in," the woman agreed,
"it will be a bargain."
