I give you written authorization to make the
proposal you intend. May The Lords be with you, my good friend; both
for the sake of your safety, and, our desperate need!"
18 So it was, a few days later, Swift Deer and two companions in the
dark of night, slipped over the walls of Nameless, avoided the enemy patrols, and headed south.
Disguised as Royal Emissaries of The Mukan King with forged papers,
they were readily accepted by The Trns, and given unquestioned liberty.
19 Quickly they made their way into the desert. When they were a safe
distance for many Trns, morning and evening Swift Deer walked up the
nearest hill and cried out, "Bandits of the desert! I can give you a
greater treasure than anything you now possess. I can give you your
freedom. Come to me...hear my words!"
20 For several days they continued south with no response. Swift Deer
was beginning to feel he would fail in his mission, when one evening a dozen men walked out of the
darkness and sat opposite their fire.Their leader was a sad-faced man of about Swift Deer's own age. ''Freedom," inquired the
man, "is a strange thing to offer bandits. By whose authority do you make such an offer?"
21 Swift Deer told him. "Children of The Lords." He smiled. "Your word
is as good as gold. You offer a dream long forgotten, a hope without
reality. To walk the streets without fear, to have a home like other
men, children you can acknowledge! To risk your life for such an
opportunity is worthwhile. I am interested, and I think my leader will
be, also.
22 I will take you to him, but for the sake of our safety, you must be
blindfolded for the first part of the journey. Our hidden village is
three day's journey away, into the hills.
23 You will only have to be blindfolded for awhile.
