This is the kind of wisdom he speaks of, The Wisdom of Truth, the Wisdom of Justice, the Wisdom of Harmony."
"Surely," said The Hawk, "you are learning, young man. For any race that has not learned this wisdom, is still on the edge of Darkness. If they do not have truth, justice, and harmony they have nothing at all."
Even as they marched sometimes The Hawk had no peace from questions. For the fighting people would sometimes get in a discussion as they walked, and send emissaries to the head of the column to get The Hawk's advice on a certain question!
One day, such emissaries approached. "All right," cried The Hawk, seeing them lag behind, "what great piece of truth are you discussing today?"
"It is such a question, Lord, that we are not sure that it is proper to ask with a lady present."
The Lady Hawk turned and stared at the young man and laughed. "Go ahead and ask," she cried, "since living with your people I have learned to expect any question, that to you, nothing is beyond discussion!"
The young men looked at each other, then without further hesitation, spoke. "Lord," they said, "we are all great admirers of Swift Deer, and believe that he is a great Servant of The Lords. He journeyed with us in these battles, tending the supply trains and doing much good for the wounded and injured, and like many of us, he bought Epon orphans to save them from the horrors of slavery in their own land, and he has already declared them his own children, even made them his heirs."
"All well and good," announced The Hawk, "I know all these things. Swift Deer is a good and true friend. I trust his wisdom. If he feels these children are worthy of being his heirs I am sure they are."
