78 The battle went far better than expected. As they approached Fin
they discovered the river unusually low. So low, in fact, that men
could wade under the great gates through which the city got its water.
Coming upon them in the night, they slipped through the gates. The Fins
were celebrating a holiday. Most of them were so drunk they
couldn't stand, even the soldiers on the walls.
79 There was very little fighting as The Children of Spirit captured
them. The startled city woke in the morning to find itself captured, its vast army would never see battle. With
this city taken, two-thirds of the force that was meant to besiege it marched with Running Hawk on Fm.
80 This time the enemy was warned, but his luck did not hold. After a
quick battle the defenders retreated to their city, and by some
mysterious means with no effort at all from The Children of Spirit, a
terrible fire broke out in the middle of the night. It spread swiftly
through the city, cutting off many people. The only way they could
escape the flames was by opening the gates, and fleeing. The only
problem was The Children of Spirit were there to keep them open. As
soon as the fires were out, they were in.
81 The battle was fierce, and the Frnans gave their all, but after two
days it was over. The last soldier was either killed or surrendered,
and Frn belonged to The Children of Spirit. With this city taken, the
excess troops rushed quickly to join The Hawk. They arrived just before
The Frns showed themselves.
82 The signal was sent to Shining Serpent, and the trap was sprung. For
two days The Frns attacked. The Children of Spirit's earthworks, and
