23 The Hawk's words proved true. His recognizing of the promise of
printing benefited his people greatly. Though a few scribes at first
complained because the press was replacing them, they soon found other
uses for their talents that benefited their people more. And with
wisdom more available, many more wise minds were educated, and The Land
prospered like never before.
24 Now between his important cases, other problems came to The Hawk's
attention. People complained about the army keeping Law and Order in
their cities. "If a war comes," they argued, "the people who protect us
go away, and often, those who replace them do not understand our
problems, or, our needs. We need permanent people that stay in our
