The Hawk went on. "It is better for a father," continued the book, ''to kill his daughter with his own hand, or even his son, before he would permit them to mate with an inferior, especially if that inferior was of different size or had a different color. The holy blood must kept clean. None must defile it."
In the final pages of the book the writer explained how The Old Fox had appeared to him, and changed The Old Teachings, having realized his error in letting the people mix with strange races.
"Where IS this man?" cried The Hawk.
"He has been summoned, Lord," explained Shining Boar, "but he refuses to enter The Hall as long as your son sits by the Seat of Judgment."
"GET HIM IN HERE!" screamed The Hawk, "if you have to DRAG him, BRING HIM!"
Reluctantly The Speaker of Poison entered The Hall. "I want every one of these books," ordered The Hawk, "gathered and destroyed. You are FORBIDDEN to teach this filth in any Temple or public place again! It is heresy. The Old Fox would never speak trash like this. This is Epon teaching, every word exactly the same as I read in their books. You've simply put The Lords Name to it."
"You cannot," cried the man, "forbid my free speech. I have a right to express my opinion."
"As I have the right," answered The Hawk, "to forbid lovers of men and lovers of women to speak of their insanity in The Temple or anywhere else, I have the right to forbid THIS insanity. It is foulness, it is poison! It is the worst sickness that can enter a mind! And you will not defile my people with it. I FORBID IT!"
