at his daughter and winked. "So you finally run
fast enough," he said, "he can never escape you again!"
89 The girl giggled and Little Newt began to laugh. "I had forgotten,"
he said, "she used to say that! I guess she has caught me, hasn't she?
Do you think the people will accept as you have, or will some consider us shameful?"
90 "When the announcement is made," laughed The Hawk, "we'll know!"
91 When the announcement was made the whole Land went wild! They loved
both The Hawk's children, and saw no shame in their love. Their mating
was the greatest celebration that had been seen in many years. The
birth of their child brought crowds to The First Speaker's House, and
when The Hawk stood on the balcony showing his first grandson, the
crowds went wild.
92 The Hawk gave much to his people, but the thing that was best
remembered was the Faith he gave them in The Lords. For he was the
example of The Lords Love.
93 The evening of every third day the people would gather in the square
under the balcony of The First Speaker's House, and the finest local
musicians would play music long into the night, but when it came time
to leave the children would start to cry out, "Sing for us, Lord! Give
us a song before we go to bed!"
94 The Hawk's singing was loved, for he sung every Worship Day in The
Temple. The people loved his voice. Of all the songs he sang for them,
this was the most favorite of them all. As he would stand on the
balcony its sweet words would fill the air. The people would return
home
with joy in their hearts.
