Sometimes we do build Temples and villages on the rocky stretches between, such as here. But there are only three cities like this one...Wall, Hot Spring, and High Top. The rest are only gathering places; where the tribes spend the hot days of summer, then spread out through the mountains and the lowland hills for spring, winter and fall.
We are content with our mountain life, and do not particularly care for the lowlands. Though we do go into the foothills, to graze our animals, and some of our people make yearly treks to the lake, sail their boats down it, fish, and go south to trade with those below the desert. But we do not like to stay there.
Three times before, we have made bargains for the land about the lake, with people who came up from the south across the desert, but each time the fever drove them out, after two or three years."
"It will not drive us out!" said Bold Fox, "Even if it is not Jointed Fever, our Healers will find out what it is, and deal with it."
"I believe they would!" agreed Strong Wall. "I do, indeed! Now, come...I see there is a crowd gathered to greet us. The messengers I sent ahead have spread the word of your coming, and the people are anxious to meet you!"

Strong Wall Leads Bold Fox to greet the crowd of Giants gathered to meet him.
