Do you not know that what you seek is in the reach of your hand? Take
her to the temple, wed her. Take these children before the clerk of the
city and say 'from this day forth they are my blood, my joy, my heirs. '"
78 Now, the rich man looked at The Teacher with eyes of sorrow.
"Strange," he asked , "how could YOU know my prayers?"
79 "Do you not know to whom you pray?" asked The Teacher. "Have you
forgotten His name?"
80 "I pray," answered the rich man, "to The Lord of Hosts, to The Maker
of all Wonders, to The One and Only True God."
81 The Rich man suddenly took a step backwards. "Master!" he cried. He
walked over, took the woman by the hand, and told the children to
follow after him. Many in the crowd laughed.
82 "This is a great stranger!" commented a beggar, "He tells a man to
take a wife, and the man without question, obeys. What prayer will he
answer next?"
83 The Teacher of The One turned towards him. "Because you are a
faithful man, and always done my will," he answered , "yours I will answer." There appeared on
the road a young man hurrying into the city. As he passed the beggar he
stopped and ran over. "Father!" he cried, "You are alive!"
84 The beggar looked up. "My son!" he cried, "My son! You live! All
these years I have prayed to see you, believing that you were no more.
Now, my eyes behold you!"
85 "You will beg no more, father. I was a captive, carried away from
you, but I escaped. And in my journey home I have acquired great
riches. Never will you want again. You will have all to
