groups. You will never be allowed to congregate
in any one city again, but from now on, you will live scattered, so you
can never again join together to make war on us.
27 All married couples among your people that have already had more
than two children will be sterilized, and any couples marrying after
your scattering will be allowed only one child, until your people are
a tenth of our population. After that, each couple may have two
children so your numbers are sustained at that level."
28 "Never!" roared The Priest of Priests. "The One True God decides how
many children our families have, no one else! We allow no form of birth
control. It is against the will of our god."
29 "You allow it NOW!" snapped Thundering Boar, "Or, you die. The
Choice is yours. I am not going to argue about it! I want an answer
here and now, do you surrender? Do you accept our terms? Or, do we
start bombing?"
30 The veins stood out on the neck of The Priest of Priests. "I am not
used," he growled, "to being talked to in this manner. You forget my
high position among my people."
31 "Your position," snapped Thundering Boar, "has ceased to exist! From
now on, your people will elect their own local officials to run their
own villages. There will be no Priests making every decision for them.
They will learn to live their own lives."
32 "I will not be permitted to carry on the duties of my office?"
gasped The Priest of Priests.
33 "No," answered Gray Boar, "from now on your people will be able to
make their own decisions. You may still serve as Priest, but you will
no longer be the only authority over your people."
34 The Priest of Priests looked at those with him. Their helpless
expressions told him it was finished.
