40 But men that do things such as those the enemy have done today, can only be despised. The only punishment they can receive, is death. As they dealt death, so must they die.
41 But their deaths must not be in anger and in hate. They must be in the sense of justice. Even though they must be destroyed, they must be pitied, for what man wants to send anyone to the fate that awaits THEM?
42 Do not think you are alone in your disgust. Those who watch in the sky have seen much cruelty and much shame. But even THEY were sickened by what they saw today, and seek some way they can help you without breaking their law. Perhaps they will find a way. But even if they do not, you know what is in your heart, and you know what you must do."
43 Screaming Hawk rose, and The Lord did also.
44 "Who ARE you, sir?" Screaming Hawk asked.
45 "I am him whose blood flows in your veins. I am him who dreamed by this tree. I am him that fought with pride and honor."
46 Screaming Hawk saluted The Lord and said, "I am proud of that blood in my veins, and I will do it honor."
47 He turned, climbed over the fence across the brook and up the hill. He said nothing, but walked by his men in the direction from which they had come.
48 "About face!" cried Little Deer, "To the rear, march! Quick time! We're going back!"
49 As they passed their ox carts they gathered what ammunition they had left, and the few provisions. They marched swiftly, returning faster than they had come. And as they marched , others came; the young, the old...men, women. Some carried hunting rifles,
