Drummer followed still beating the forward , and his people poured on.
31 Along the way they came upon the enemy's dead Ammunition Bearers, and grabbed up the ammunition. The enemy had made a mistake making HIS ammunition the same as The Children of Spirit's. Now it was used against him.
32 The enemy War Leader, who had been watching the battle through his glass watched the Drummer approach with growing hatred. "The day
was ours!" he screamed, "The Battle was ours! YOU cost US victory!"
33 He pushed his way through his panicking troops, raised his pistol, and fired his final round. The Drummer felt the bullet strike. He staggered for a moment, then paid it no heed. He continued to roll the forward.
34 His people drove through the enemy and a bayonet was thrust through the enemy Leader's heart. Suddenly the enemy started to throw down their weapons. It was over. The Children of Spirit had lost many, but the enemy had lost far more.
35 The Drummer sat down against a supply case that had been part of the enemy's barricade, took a writing book and pencil from his kit, and
began to write. When he was finished, he folded the letter, put his mother's address on it, stuck it in the book, put the book back in his kit, laid his head against the case, and went to sleep. While he slept, he joined The Lords.
36 Bright Sword looked around him in disbelief. The enemy's cannon were blown to pieces, except for five that sat abandoned. His own Cannoneer sat by his now warped and useless weapons out in the field.
37 Bright Sword approached him. "How did you do it?" he asked. "What happened. You were ten against forty. How did you outfight them?" Swift Dog
