or their rifles in their mouths. The Healers were
ready to do what they could, but that was little except give them
something to ease the pain. Many of the enemy lost their wits, and
would not eat or drink, but only beg to die.
84 Little Blossom marched south. Though the thought sickened her, they
had enough rockets, for one more assault, and the enemy had no idea
what had happened with their comrades to the north.
85 So again, as the enemy marched to meet them, the billowing clouds
again rolled over them. But this time, some escaped, fleeing
north to tell their friends of the horrible new weapon Spirit was using.
86 Little Blossom was praised by her people, but the memories of these
young men lying on the ground clawing at their eyes haunted her all her
days. After the fighting ceased, she resigned and kept to herself in a
small house nestled in a quiet mountain valley. There, her remaining
sons saw to her needs, until the day she joined The Lords.
87 But now she asked Flaming Serpent how long it would take to make
more rockets. "I'm afraid," announced Flaming Serpent, "we cannot! Not
for some time. We used all the chemicals we had to make these, and we
cannot get more until we can again get supplies from Fr!"
88 "Can you make rockets," inquired Little Blossom, "that simply make
clouds like those? We could mix a little spice to irritate
the eyes. The enemy now knows the weapon's power. The mere sight of the
clouds should send them fleeing."
89 "I think we can!" cried Flaming Serpent. "By The Lords, I think we
can!"
