82 "Give me a mirror! " cried Leaping Deer, "I've
got to talk to him!"
83 As the glider circled he flashed his message. These rich young men
had proved invaluable beyond belief. Soaring high above the land in
their gliders they would watch the enemy's every move, and carry
messages to and from isolated units.
84 As Leaping Deer's message flashed the Pilot read it. "We are the
last survivors from Canal. Have captured important documents on enemy's
supply routes. Must get information north!"
85 The glider waved his wings, circled a few more moments, then swirled
over them, a ribbon message sailing down. It was quickly brought to
Leaping Deer. It said, "Big battle to the north. Enemy beaten. Get to
the coastal road. Our people coming south. Stop any enemy stragglers
you can."
86 When he read the message aloud, his fighting people cheered loudly.
"It's half a day to the coastal road," he shouted, "let's march!"
87 They saw few enemy, but two days later Bright Sword and his
victorious army marched down to them. When Bright Sword read the
information he wasted no time. Splitting his Army into thirds, one continued on
towards the south, to push against the enemy's known positions. The
rest slipped through, into the desert, and destroyed the enemy's
caravans.
88 They returned, bypassing the enemy with ox carts full of repeating
rifles and many of the heavy cannon.
89 Screaming Hawk had driven the enemy from around Southern, and soon
joined with Bright Sword's men. They marched on Blossom, the enemy now
receiving reports of disasters in other places, were in no mood to
stand in the open fields and fight, especially considering they were
running low on ammunition.
