24 Again as they reached the harbor, Bold Fox received a disturbing
report. Blue Blossom Boar had been attacked by a young Healer coming to
study with her. Wise Crow had found the person trying to strangle her.
While fighting Wise Crow discovered his opponent wasn't a
man, but a woman! He had seriously wounded her, but she managed to
escape. What was worse, samples of The Black Death were also gone!
25 The woman had been captured, but refused to tell them anything. She
had been tried and sentenced to death. When asked if she had anything
to say before her execution she responded, "I regret I have but one
life to give to my people."
26 "Damn!" cried Bold Fox, "Three of our greatest weapons stolen. Worse
yet, we've never used The Black Death, but I'm sure the enemy will. I
hope Blue Blossom's vaccination idea works."
27 It did. By the time the enemy tried to use The Black Death as a
weapon, the People of Spirit were immune to it.
28 To the north, Leaping Deer was leading his raiding party through the
wilderness. It was hard going, carrying the Yellow Thunder, their
supplies and the gliders over rough trails and through unknown country,
and all the time avoiding the enemy! But slowly, surely they came
within range of the two cities that were their goal.

go to Hope. Their trip would be one
way, so they had to be within a day's flying distance of the city. The
others would attack Faith, and they had to be within HALF a day's
flying time in order to make it back. They knew exactly where they had
