ground. "HATE Oneness. Keep our people slaves. No good. Now you come,
we kill Oneness, break chains, go away your Land."
71 One of the other men said something and the Goatherder looked at the
back of Sleepy Crow's pants. "You hurt!" he cried, "Much blood! Drop
pants!"
72 Sleepy Crow reluctantly undid his britches and took off his loin cloth. The Goatherders found his kit, and with
his field bandage did what they could. "This needs Yellow Thorn's
hand," said the Herdsman. "She fix quick! We hide flying thing, send
men back for it!"
73 "Wait a minute," explained Sleepy Crow. "Release those four handles
and push them over. We can take off the wings. It makes her much easier
to carry, and, hide."
74 The Goatherders followed his directions, hid the glider, then made a
litter from their coats, and staffs, then carried Sleepy Crow back to
their village. There, he was taken to the Healer's house.
75 The Healer turned out to be one of the most beautiful women Sleepy
Crow had ever seen! Her golden skin made her look like a statue of some
ancient goddess, but she had exceptional skill. She gave him something
for the pain, and had the bullet out in minutes and sewed him up.
76 When he had his wits about him, again, she told him the wound wasn't
serious, but he shouldn't be doing any running for a while, and should
sit on thick cushions.
77 He was taken from her house to The Council Hall, where an old Elder
greeted him warmly. "Child of The Lord," he cried, "you do not know how
long it has been that we have awaited your coming in the sky. Long have
our priests told the prophecy that we would
