back in the corner with the other young men and
be quiet."
100 In moments Sleepy Crow wore the leather pants, white linen shirt
and leather jacket of the Goat People. He was about to ask, what about his silver skin, when a woman appeared
with a pot full of bandages. In minutes his face and hands were
covered. "If they speak to you," instructed the Chieftain, "just grunt
and groan. You got burned. Even your mouth is sore."
101 The woman began to sprinkle something on the bandages. "What is
that?" asked Sleepy Crow.
102 "It smells like rotting flesh," the Old Chieftain remarked. Why did
Sleepy Crow get the idea that they had done this many times before? A
few minutes later there was a lot of hollering outside the Council
Hall, and a War Leader of The Oneness came strutting in.
103 "Hello, you old goat!" he asked, "Tell me, have your people seen
anything strange in the sky, or a man in a brown uniform?"
104 "My people have seen nothing unusual," answered the Chieftain,
"does something trouble our benevolent masters?"
105 "Nothing that we can't deal with," boasted the War Leader. "Just a
little trouble with those worshipers of demons. My men and I are soiled
and weary.
We're going to the bath house. We'll take our usual huts. But this
time, send us some DECENT women, some young ones, none of these old
whores like last time, or we'll come and select our own. Understand
me, old man?"
106 "I understand well, my master, the fairest in the village is yours."
107 "Your fairest," snorted the War Leader, "is barely
touchable, but when there is nothing else they serve the purpose. Now,
hurry up! We must rise early in the morning and continue the search for
our enemy.
