"Never again," he said, "will we charge into the
enemy as we did before, not if he has these things. A few of these
could wipe out an entire army.
Warfare will never be the same again.
39 Our plans to invade Epon are going to take a lot of rethinking. Get
this thing to our Witches. We have to begin making them as soon as
possible before the enemy decides to use them for assault, as well as
defense. I don't think they fully understand the potential of this
weapon!"
40 The next few days Bold Fox went over and over his plans, but as he
worked on each assault, the vision of The Rolling Gun as his people
started to call the new weapon, shooting up the barrel, filled his
mind. He could see rows and rows of his people cut down as they charged
enemy positions. "Sooner or later," he thought, "The Oneness will have
this weapon, too." He didn't want to think about it!
41 Then, one night, he dreamed a Dream. He was sitting on a boat way
out on the lake, with a man sitting beside him. Suddenly the water
began to bubble and boil. Great chunks of rock flew into the air and
came crashing back down.
42 The man beside him, spoke. "Our Great Mother is about to give birth.
Soon, she will rip the bottom of the lake apart and thrust her new
child into the sun. When she does, she will bring the Epons to their
knees. When you hear of this, when you hear that the water boils, tell
all the people along the shore to move to high ground, at least
one-hundred feet above the lake's water.
43 Let no man or woman tarry or laugh, saying you jest, but make every
one obey. For those who do not, will be destroyed. When all the people
are safe, get in your ships and sail toward the enemy's land. But do
not enter the shallow water. Stay where the water is
