He said 'They are not, if you remember Their basic meanings.
You shall put nothing before The Lords; not gold, not silver, not pride or vanity.  But you shall keep The Lords holy in your heart.
You shall have no god, nor shall you keep the likeness of any god in your home.  For The Lords are jealous, and will not serve those that serve others.  So bow you not down to any god.
You shall love the Lords with all your body, with all your mind, and with all your Spirit, giving justice and mercy in Their Names.
Never shall you take the names of Your Lords in vain.  If you swear by Them keep your oath, even unto death.
Remember Their day and keep it holy.  Nine days are for labor, but the Tenth Day is the Lords Day.  It is for Their Worship, and you shall keep it with honor.
Honor your father and your mother, that their days may be long and fruitful.
Never commit murder for any reason, or lie with another man's woman.
Never take what is another's, or bear false witness against  your neighbor.
Crave not your neighbor's goods, or his wives, or his servants, or his beasts.  For those things are his.  Treat them with respect.
But The Lords greatest wish for you, Their greatest desire, is that you love one another.  If you keep that Law, you will keep all other Laws.  For a person that loves his neighbor keeps The Lords in their heart, and without thinking will keep all the other Laws."
Is that not beautiful?" she asked.  "I have read The book of the Law many times, and never  considered them that way.  But when I heard his words, and read them again, I understood them better than I ever had before."
Mountain Glory Turtle looked up from the fireplace.  "I think," she said, "he's read The Book of The One. Our Lord said something very similar in his great Commandments.  I sometimes wonder about your Teachers.  They seem to borrow a lot from other religions."
"That which is good," noted Gray Deer, "is worth borrowing, and I've heard some of your priests using things that sounded an awful lot like Spirit."
"Maybe so," answered Mountain Glory, "but I still believe in The One God.  Though I don't believe your Spirits are as bad as some say, HUSBAND!"
"I don't know," continued Gray Deer, "I've never kept it secret from you that I have doubts.  I wonder about The Lords.  Come, children!  Set the table!  Supper must be almost ready!"
There was a loud rap at the door, and everyone jumped.  Gray Deer rose, and went to the door.  "Who is there?" he called.
"The Voice Of the Lords," came the reply, "seeking Their Children."
"Then you have come to the wrong house!" cried Mountain Glory.  "There are two worshipers of The Lords here.  The rest belong to The One."
"I do not think so," answered The Voice Beyond The Door "there are seven here that belong to The Lords."
"Again you are mistaken," answered Mountain Glory. "Only six dwell in this house."
From beyond the door the clear, strong voice answered, "The child that sleeps in your belly makes seven, and that one shall be a GREAT Servant of The Lords!"
Mountain Glory dropped the spoon she was stirring the soup with and looked at the door.  "He couldn't know!" she gasped.  "No one knows!  I am not sure, myself!"
"The Lords are sure," answered The Voice from beyond the door.
Gray Deer undid the bolt and lifted the bar. Opening the door he peered into the darkness. The smiling face of a man not much older than himself greeted him.
"In The Name Of The Lords," announced Gray Deer, "I bid you welcome. Come in!"
The Voice entered, seated himself at the table, the children staring at him, curiously.  "I know you," Little Deer said.  "You're the one grandfather says has been sent by demons to deceive the people."
  The Voice only smiled.
"Little Deer!" Gray Deer snapped, "You will be courteous to our guest while he is at our table!  Have you eaten, sir?  May we offer you supper?"
"I have been staying with a poor family in the city," The Voice answered, "and they have little to spare.  I told them I would not be there for the evening meal, so dinner would be quite welcome."
"Set an extra place," Gray Deer instructed.  "Tell me, sir, why do you come to MY door?"
