165 Build the sacred fires on its four
corners, and surround it with the standards of the village clans.
Once that is done, the people must remain there until the battle is
done.
166 The Circle should be alternate, one of my
people, one of yours; man, woman, man, woman, no children, only the
able-bodied, the strong. The rest must stay in The Temples and
pray, where they will be safe."
167 "Is there that much danger?" The Priest
asked.
168 "There is that much!" The Voice told
him. There is one other thing that we will need. Each of us
must have a mirror of good size but small enough to conceal in our
robes. They will be our greatest weapon. They must also be
blessed and prayed for with the stones."
169 The Priest of The One looked to those with
him, and they nodded. "As you have said," he answered, "so shall
it be. It shall be us, or it. We shall destroy it, or die!"
170 The Voice put his hand to the man's
shoulder, and each went to work, organizing his people.
171 All that afternoon the people
worked, and the following morning The Voice and The Priest went out to
inspect their efforts. The fires were ready, and each person had been
given a position. The farm was clear. The banners of each clan were in
place.
172 "It will not be pleasant," The Voice told
his people. "You will be frightened and so will your
neighbor. You will see things that will terrify you, but they
cannot hurt you. Do not leave your place, especially after darkness
comes, and pray for The Lords Power and The Lords strength!"
173 The Priest of The One instructed his
people similarly. It was almost high sun when the two men entered
the village gates, saluted each other, and went to their Temples.
