Bold Raven came over.  "Doesn't he amaze you?" he announced. "He perceives more with his ears and nose and fingers than we do with our eyes. Would you have known I wear a back brace?  He did, the first time we met. He can tell you what kind of animal my mate has been treating whenever he meets her. It is just beyond belief!"
"Not really," said Shining Goat. "I cannot depend on my eyes as you do.  I HAVE to use my other senses. I tell you, a thorn blossom smells beautiful, but I'd love to see one.  A child's laughter is glorious, but I'd like to see my daughter's face.
Oh, do not misunderstand me, I am content.  I accept my way of life. It is just sometimes I wonder what it is like to see. Though I do not think I would want to, because if I was able to see, I would lose the world I have, and that is precious to me."
"That is understandable," explained The Voice. "Each of us perceives the world differently. It is the same world, yet to each it is different.  I could not live in your world, you could not live in mine.  But in the ways of The Great Law each is happy in his own place, each is content in his own existence."
"I love the way you put things!" said Shining Goat, "I never considered it that way!  But the evening grows late. I must be home soon."
Swift Cat came over.  "Not before you play us one song!" he insisted, handing Shining Goat his flute.
"Well, just one," said Shining Goat, "if you will accompany me home.  Little Blossom wonders why you have not been by."
"I thought it best," answered Swift Cat, "but I will accompany you to your door."
Shining Goat nodded, and seated himself. He practiced for a few notes and everybody in the house stopped moving. When he began to play it was like nothing The Voice had ever heard. It was like you floated on the music.  It carried away any pain, worry...you were just carried on its gentleness.  When at last he put down the flute, Shining Goat seemed weary.
"I've never heard that before," commented The Voice. "It's beautiful!"
"I call it 'A Walk On A Summer's Dream,' " explained Shining Goat, "I wish I could write music so others could learn it!"
"Why don't you hire a musician that can?" asked The Voice  "I'm sure the piece would sell!  It might bring you considerable profit!"
Shining Goat gathered his things, telling The Voice that it was a good suggestion, and he would see if he could find someone.  He and Swift Cat departed for his home.
The Voice went over to Bold Raven.  "Who is Little Blossom?"
"She's Shining Goat's oldest daughter. Her and Swift Cat have been friends for years.  It was always thought they would mate, but for the last year or so, Swift Cat seems to avoid her.  She lost her leg when she was a baby, and her parents gave her away.
That she had an artificial leg never seemed to bother Swift Cat.  I do not know why he is shunning her.  I do know it is breaking her heart!"
The Voice nodded. "I will find out!"  he promised, "I WILL find out!"
