days. I'll leave a couple of my guards here and
you can teach them the things you want to. Is that all right?"
189 Bullet stopped, and put his hand on the fence of the schoolyard
they were passing. "You want me to be her lover, don't you?" he growled.
190 The Young Speaker stopped and looked at him. "I want you to do only
what is pleasing to you, and, to her. There might be advantages to you two being friends. If you want to
be lovers, that's up to you."
191 "Dog shit!" snapped Bullet, "You know I'm attracted to her already,
and I think she's beginning to lean towards me. I don't like the way you just throw people
together. It isn't right. The others tell stories. They say you're the
world's greatest matchmaker. But maybe I don't WANNA be matched!"
192 "I'm not a matchmaker," argued The Young Speaker, "The Lords are.
They just tell me what men and what women are good together. They don't …." he stopped speaking and
stared at something further down the street. Two women were seated on a
little bench across from the school fence. At the fence an old man was
talking to the children on the other side of the fence.
193 Without a word The Young Speaker crossed the street and came up
behind the women. Bullet followed him. As they got within hearing distance, one of the women was speaking
rather loudly. "I agree," she said, "it's disgraceful! Every day he
comes and gawks at the little girls exercising in their gym suits. It's
disgusting, a man that age desiring little girls! I've spoken to the
principal but he says there's never been any complaints. But I tell you,
there's evil going on there."
194 "WHORES!" screamed The Young Speaker, "How dare you accuse this
good man of evil, when you know nothing of him? Who are you to pass
judgement without knowing the facts?"
195 The woman who hadn't been speaking jumped up.
