him, and the sky was lit by two fireballs
descending to earth.
15 At The Young Speaker's Headquarters the phone rang, and Bullet
picked it up. Everyone in the room was laughing and talking. He put the
receiver down and stood up. "Everybody quiet! " he commanded. "Another
plane has struck The Young Speaker's plane as it was approaching the
airport. Both went down. There are no survivors."
16 "What do you mean;" the woman that had been in his office cried, "no survivors?"
17 "I mean," answered Bullet, "The Young Speaker is dead. They're not
even sure they can find his body. Why in The Name Of The Lords do you
think he wouldn't take you? Where was the one place he could go that he
wouldn't allow you to accompany him?" The woman screamed and sat down in a
chair. The others just stood around.
18 "We've got to make funeral arrangements," continued Bullet, "get it
over and done with by tomorrow so we can put all our efforts into the
election."
19 "How can you be so damned cold?" snapped one of the men. "He was the
best friend you ever had!"
20 "That's why," insisted Bullet, "I won't let what he lived for die!
If I have to kick all of your butts we're going to win this election
we're going to make this world what it's supposed to be, and we'll do
it legally within The Law, the way he wanted it. Now, anybody that
doesn't believe that way, GET OUT OF HERE! Go to The Oneness, because
we don't want you!"
21 The man who had spoken reached for his coat. "I'm going
out with the search party," he announced, "WE'LL find the body. We
won't have him lying in pieces all over the countryside!"
22 It wasn't until late that day they found the forward section of The
Young Speaker's plane in a muddy bog by the river. It was a solemn
caravan of hearses that rolled the three bodies back to the city.
