ward. He handed them visitor's tags, and they
pinned them on.
15 As they made their way to the elevators the Aide continued with his
story. "She'd been off the drug for almost two years when the Maid came
home one day and found a horrid sight....Leaping Swan's two children,
ripped to pieces in the common room. As she turned and tried to leave
the house, Leaping Swan attacked her. It was only a miracle that she
managed to beat her off and flee the house. It took eight Guardian to
subdue her. It would have been better if they'd simply shot her. She
was on what The Druggits call 'a return ride,' a delusion brought on by the drug
years after she'd taken it. She's never been the same since."
16 They reached the gate and the Doctor joined them. "She's kind of bad
today," he cautioned, "to be showing anyone. You sure you want someone
to see her like that?"
17 The Aide nodded. The gate was opened and they went down the hall.
"We just gave her a bath and cleaned out the cell a little while ago,"
explained the Attendant. The Doctor looked in the door and then nodded
to the Attendant to open it. The room had thick padding on all the
walls, even the toilet in the corner was heavily padded. There was a
bed, but the beautiful, naked woman lay on the floor, caressing it slowly. As they entered, she looked up
and smiled.
18 "Be careful," warned the Doctor, "we've blunted her fingernails but
she still goes for the eyes."
19 "Hello," began the Aide. "I've brought someone to see you- an old
admirer of yours. He used to come and see you dance."
20 Bright Serpent knelt down. "You were the most beautiful thing I ever
saw," he praised. "I admire your skill."
21 "You liked my dancing?" the woman cooed, rising up a little. "I
still dance, sometimes."
