120 "This one's not in a cell," explained The
Chief Guard. "He's out in the guards' apartment complex. Here's his
file. He came in about three months ago. He and his three brothers
robbed a nightclub. He waited outside in the car. His brothers went
inside, took the money, killed the manager, and abducted the hostess.
He didn't know they had intended to kill the man, and wanted them to
let the woman go. They told him they would, after they had some fun
with her.
121 They took her to a hideout they had in the foothills, and took
turns with her all night. When they told him that if he wanted to do
anything with her he'd better hurry up because they intended to kill
her and bury her in the woods, he took out his pistol and told them he
was taking her back to the city, and if they tried to stop him, that
he'd kill them.
122 As he was putting her in the car, Guardian Officers who had been surrounding the cottage ordered everyone to
surrender. The brothers tried to put up a fight and were all killed,
but he surrendered.
123 The Speaker at the trial accepted his confession on the murder and
stated that he was sorry the sentence for the rape would have to be
carried out. Though he had saved the woman's life, he did not try to
prevent his brothers from shaming her. Therefore, The Law left him no
choice.
124 The woman he had saved begged the National Speaker for mercy, but
he was bound by The Law also, and the sentence was carried out."
125 Bullet glanced through the file himself. "Seems like they could
have bent a little bit on that one," he sighed. They reached the
apartment block. "The security here," asked Bullet, "is the same as in
the prison blocks?"
126 ''Yes," answerered. the Chief Guard. "Each Guard is allowed one
servant from among the prisoners if they want it, to do their household
chores. It's not a bad idea, really. It gives some of the prisoners more
room to move
