88 "It's not only The World Speaker that's caused
these things," explained The Young Speaker, "but the people, because we
let them happen. That's what we've got to work for; make people aware,
rise them up, stop this evil. It won't be easy, it will be a hard fight
and the place to start isn't at the top, it's at the bottom!"
89 "With kids like us," cried Thundering Hawk, "kids you might have to
kick a little to make them see sense, but when you reach us, make the
youth understand, turn the wind back, you haven't got a chance of
changing the future. Damn, you're smart!"
90 "And you're learning very swiftly!" complimented The Young Speaker,
"but it's not just the youth. They're very important, but
it's their
parents too. There's no sense trying to build a house, though, 'til
you've prepared the foundation. That's what we have to do now...build a
foundation. As you say, turn the wind, start it blowing in the right
direction.
91 I want you to do something for me. Plan a party and invite the
leaders of all the other gangs in the area, some place where you can
meet without a hassle."
92 "There's only ONE place," answered Thundering Hawk, "the central
park. It's the only open territory in the city. All the gang's connect
on it. It's a safe place where we can take our girls, and we don't
fight. Getting the others to come will be a problem, though."
93 "What if The Passions were to perform at the party?" asked The Young
Speaker, "would the gang leaders come to hear them?"
94 "The Passions?" gasped Thundering Hawk. "I could get anybody you
wanted to come to hear THEM sing!"
95 "Good," promised The Young Speaker, "They'll
