YOU say?"
''It's sure easier on the stomach," agreed Bullet.
Sweet Blossom Turtle rose. "What would you like for breakfast?" she inquired. "I know what everyone else has."
"Some hot beverage, two eggs, real light, a couple of pieces of toast, and red berry juice, if you've got any!"
"I think we can manage that!" the woman giggled. "Have a good run, gentlemen. I'd join you, but of course you know your former associates saw to it I don't do much running." Bullet nodded and everybody headed out the door. The Young Speaker sat a hard pace.
"Isn't this a little dangerous?" Bullet asked.
"No," explained The Young Speaker, "we take a different route every day, and any good hiding places are checked long before we pass."
By the time they got back to the house, Bullet was exhausted. He enjoyed the breakfast very much and had a good conversation with Sweet Blossom. When she casually asked The Young Speaker if she'd be sleeping with him again that night, and he said yes, they'd be staying at least until the following afternoon, Bullet nearly choked on his toast! He got an amused glance from Sweet Blossom, and a chuckle from the rest in the room.
The Young Speaker was called to the phone. A moment later he returned. "Your uncle," he told Bullet, "is no longer with us. The Guardian raided his office this morning. They found him sitting in his chair with a wire tightened around his neck, a naked woman's body lay at his feet, her throat had been cut. But apparently they hadn't done anything else to her."
"They wouldn't," explained Bullet. "You might dispose of a high chieftain's woman, figuring she knows too much, but you never embarrass her or shame her. You do it quick."
