Chapter Nine

Two weeks later the great passenger ship Hades, the mobile capital of The Spiritist Republics enters New York Harbor and takes up anchor. The warships that accompany it patrol just off the coast, welcomed by the U.S. government.  Police line the streets as The Speaker comes ashore and is driven to The United Nations.  All along the way people scream insults like "Butcher!  Murderer!  Bastard!"  There are signs that say "In the name of God, forgive!"  "Mercy! Mercy! Mercy!"  "Shame on you!"  "Vengeance is mine saith The Lord!" and many more.  The Speaker arrives at The United Nations and is cordially greeted.  He takes the podium and begins to speak.
"Ladies and gentlemen!  Though The Spiritist Republics are not a part of this organization we have never quite seen eye to eye in many situations.  We have helped each other many times in the past, and I ask with all sincerity, as my two predecessors often asked before me, that you not interfere with that that we have to do.  Two-million-seven-thousand-eight-hundred-and-twenty of our people have been brutally murdered in unprovoked and totally unjustified attacks.
Our law demands a retribution of ten to one!  So the people of Mozambique owe us twenty-million-seventy-eight-thousand-two-hundred lives!  Unfortunately they only have nineteen million people!  So, in order for justice to be done all of them will have to be rendered in a state where they will not reproduce.  In the old days we did this by surgery.  That is no longer necessary.  We have a simple injection now that will destroy the reproductive organs of both male and female causing them a little bit of discomfort for a few days, but then besides from reproducing their lives will be perfectly normal.  This injection works on even the youngest children, a very small dose renders them permanently sterile.  Our forces are gathering.  They will enter Mozambique and every man, woman, and child living there will be injected.
On the screen behind me you will see scenes of Mozambique's people celebrating in the streets when they heard that an atomic weapon had been used on our people, and that millions of them were dead.  After Mozambique's population has been sterilized The Republics will slowly replace its population with colonists from all over the world.  As Mozambique's people die off our people will take their places.  These people will marry native Africans for the next ten generations, until their children are a part of Africa.  Mozambique will become a Spiritist Republic.
We know many of you do not understand our way, that your way is to forgive and forget no matter how hateful a people are, no matter what their leaders do, you grant clemency and let it be forgotten.  We cannot do that.  We intend to send a message to the world 'Leave us in peace, and we will not bother you!  Attack us, murder our people in the millions, and you may very well cease to exist as a people.'  Every ethnic group in the world must come to understand that they cannot advance their particular society by murdering the innocent.  It will no longer be allowed.  We do not do this in hate, or even in anger.  We have let our anger pass.  But those who have brutally murdered our people must pay the price.
The people of Mozambique can live long, happy lives.  There are many children who are orphaned around the world who need loving and caring parents.  If those now in Mozambique prove themselves to be responsible people that can recognize their debts and justly pay them, then perhaps the opportunities may present themselves for them to raise many of these children.  But justice must be done!  The people of Mozambique supported their leaders, kept them in power, let them do their evil.  Now a day of reckoning is at hand!

If the people of the world wish to see that things are done kindly and humanely, that no one is mistreated, I invite you to send observers with us and even troops who will not be asked to take part in any of the sterilizations, but only asked to help maintain the peace, and bear witness that no unnecessary brutality is done.
That's all I have to say!  We hope for your cooperation.  We do not want your interference, though we are not one with you, we still wish to be your friends, and to exist in peaceful cooperation.  Thank you for your time!  So must it be!"
