Warlock Young had come out of retirement for this one last mission.
When she had appeared at Warlock Holiday's headquarters he had been stunned by her request to give her over all command of the mission.
"I started this thing," she commented, "I'd like to finish it!"
"If it is your wish!"
Holiday answered.
"But I would much prefer to see your career end on a better note."
"I want my career," Warlock Young answered, "to end on the note that I did my duty even when that duty was unpleasant!"
Now, with virtually no resistance she crossed the border.
Outside the capital they sat up a tent city that would hold hundreds of thousands, then they proceeded in and began to empty the city.
Every house was searched, every inch of ground.
Those that tried to hide were discovered and brought out.
There was some resistance, but far less than they thought.
Many people, when their doors were knocked on, simply brought their children out and were calmly loaded in the trucks.
Finally they reached The Presidential Palace but there were no guards, no resistance.
They found the President and his wife on their bed, dead.
They found their children on their beds, also dead.
"Son of a bitch!"
Young snapped.
"He caused all this to his people and he wouldn't even stay and face the consequences with the rest of them.
What a cowardly piece of crap!
How do people like this ever get in power?
Get these bodies out of here!
Get them cremated.
Spread their ashes on the ocean.
They don't deserve graves!
They don't deserve to be remembered!"
They continued on.
They took their time. The whole operation took six months.
Then the Mozambique people that had left with The Spiritists returned and became its leaders.
The world saw that the Mozambique people weren't really treated that badly.
And as the years passed many recognized the necessity of The Spiritists' actions, and no one, absolutely no one ever considered using a nuclear weapon on Spiritist Forces again!
It was never, ever even contemplated.
The leader of every nation where it was even thought of said "No!
No!
My people aren't going to be Mozambique."
It was a hard lesson, but it was a lesson that was learned.
