Chapter
Seventeen
A young warrior got
up, and, taking an ignition device, lit the candles saying "Oh, Holy
Lords of Light and Truth, Blessed Mothers and Holy Fathers, we light
Your Light so that it may be among us and guide us, and strengthen us. Always must it be!"
After he had seated
himself the Warlock spoke. "I guess we
should begin with a prayer for the dead. Oh Blessed Ones, we have had
to shed blood this day, but let that blood not be held against us, for
it was shed in the defense of the innocent. Let
those we fought not suffer in anguish. They
were honorable men fighting for their cause, but let them be welcomed
into Paradise, and There let there be peace between us.
Let all misunderstandings be forgotten and let us be There
friends."
"So must it be!" all
the warriors repeated.
"Let's keep the hymns simple," the Warlock
continued. "We will do "Build Me A Temple."
The Humes began to sing and The Emperor
listened with interest.
GONNA
BUILD A TEMPLE
(Chorus)
Gonna
build me a temple not made of stone!
Gonna build me a temple of flesh and bone!
Gonna build it mighty, gonna build it strong!
Gonna build me a temple They'll be glad to call Their own!
1. Gonna rise up Glory, gonna rise up strong!
Gonna rise up Glory! Never do no wrong!
Gonna build me a temple of flesh and bone!
Gonna build me a temple They'll be glad to call Their own!
2. Come on to Glory! Come and journey Home!
Come on to Glory! Never be alone!
Gonna build me a temple They'll call Their own!
Gonna build me a temple They'll call Their own!
When they were
done singing The Emperor leaned to Tampon. "I
do not understand!" he remarked "Where is
this temple they sing of, on their home world?"
"I'm not sure, Your Majesty," Tampon whispered
back, "but I think they are referring to their bodies."
"Oh!" The
Emperor responded, "Yes! Now I see!"
Warlock Polley continued.
"Warlock Rice, would you take the first reading?"
The female
Warlock looked startled, but quickly pulled a book from her pack and
opened it. "Here's something I think
that's appropriate!" she began. "Speaker White was on the stern of the great
ship Hades teaching the young Speakers when his secretary came running
out, tears running from her eyes. "They've
killed him!" she cried, "They've killed
him! They've put out The Light! The Light is gone!" "Calm
down, child!" the Speaker cried, "Calm
down! Who has been killed?"
"The First Speaker!" the secretary
answered, "They've shot him! They've
killed him! The Light is gone!" Speaker White stood as if he had been struck
and it took a moment for him to regain his composure, then he spoke.
