Solassie backhanded her with such force he knocked her off her feet. She tried to rise crying "Father!" Again he knocked her down.
"Don't call me father!" Solassie screamed. "You're not my child! I taught you right from wrong, but instead you have listened to this animal and killed our sunshine, our happiness, just because this jackal, this mad dog was offended! YOU ARE NOT MY CHILD! You are a stranger that I must watch die. Say no more or I will kill you myself, with my own hands!"
The chieftain helped his weeping, trembling wife to her feet. "Very well!" he cried. "We will not fight our own people. We will come out. But this is not justice. You are the murderers. You stole our rights and now you punish us for trying to keep them. Some day you will answer to a higher power. Allah curse you all!"
He turned and headed back to the village, carrying his hysterical wife. As they went back to the truck Samuel spoke lowly. "Forgive me for making you choose the rest," he apologized.
"I would prefer it," Solassie answered.
"Just one thing," Samuel put in, "you don't include yourself."
"As you wish," Solassie answered. "I do not understand WHY you wish, but I will abide by your wishes."
The men arrived with the injection guns. "Set up two lines over there," Samuel ordered. "Lay out the body bags over there."
The executioners nodded and quickly prepared.
