Back with more about what’s going on. On a personal note I had a wonderful Halloween despite technical difficulties with my web cam not working for my friend actress Lorielle New’s Halloween costume party show, wouldn’t connect. Earlier in the day I went to counseling and Wal Mart with my case worker later on to get groceries. I got temporary reading glasses and some sunglasses which I can wear. First ones I’ve been able to wear since I was probably five years old! I wanted to go out to dinner, however it was raining and as the doctor told me I should stay close to home the first week after my surgery. So I had a calzone delivered. Then last thing I watched “Doctor Who” on Netflix through my Roku box. I have an eye appointment about the cloudiness in my right eye today. It’s nothing serious. Laser surgery should fix it. Thursday morning I heard people in the Afterlife chanting “Don’t vote Romney! Give us freedom!” I don’t know if this will be going on election day or if it was just a small incident I happened to pick up on. If it will I hope people listen. It’s true, it sounds like Romney wants to take many of our rights away. Come on people! Please think about it before you vote! After all, it’s the future of the world that’s at stake. Speaking of voting my caseworker will be taking me to the polls.
Now on to the national news. The Massachusetts’ Supreme Judicial Court is going to be hearing the case of a non religious family who is challenging the daily reciting of The Pledge Of Allegiance in classrooms. They’re claiming the phrase “under God” is a violation of the state’s constitutional ban on religious discrimination. Back in June a lower court ruled that this pledge was not discriminatory because it wasn’t for one religion over another. Now the suit seeks protection under a state constitution’s equal protection measure, instead of under the separation of church and state. and there will be a new law when the court makes its decision. I’m on the family’s side. Gerald had terrible trouble while in school with teachers forcing him to say the pledge when it was against his religious beliefs. Even I wouldn’t say “under God” while growing up, I just mouthed the words because I was uncertain of which faith I would be part of. I believe it does go against the separation of church and state, and if not removed completely it should be changed to not say “under God,” to include all positive faiths.
A tragedy beyond measure on Halloween eve in Naperville, IL a suburb of Chicago, when a 40 year old woman murdered her 8 year old son and a five year old girl she was babysitting. She had stabbed the boy 100 times and the girl 50. She also stabbed two dogs in the home to death. She had taken the kids to church earlier and said they were being bothered by demons. If this story is anywhere near true it looks like the demons turned the tables on her and possessed her, making her do this horrible thing. May justice soon be done on the children’s behalf.
More bad news. Someone has stolen treasured dresses belonging to the late singer Amy Winehouse, even her wedding dress. This was to have been auctioned off for the charity started to help young people overcome their addictions. They were stolen from her former London home. Her father told reporters that it’s sickening when someone steals something when they know of its sentimental value. I hope they find whoever did it and they are punished big time.
The nerve of some people today! A woman went to a restaurant, got a $138.35 meal, and didn’t give a tip. When she got the bill she had written on it where the tip amount would be filled in, “Single Mom. Sorry.” then at the bottom put “Thanks! It was great!” This was posted on Reddit and has gone viral. Someone who works for Reddit commented that the amount of money she paid for the one meal could’ve bought a week’s worth of groceries for her kids. “For shame!” I agree! Another apparent waste of oxygen not fit to be a mother.
