Happy Birthday!

Back after a good weekend on the home front.  Celebrated my 62nd birthday Sunday July 14th.  I went to Governor’s restaurant in the cab for supper.  Had a delicious lobster roll, cole slaw, and peanut butter pie, which was a no no but I couldn’t eat it all and you’re only 62 once in a lifetime.  I also had ice tea.  The cab driver recommended the pie so I bought him a slice too. On Sundays it’s only $1.99 a slice!   He was happy with it.  I’m sure Gerald and my other Spirit friends were very happy too.  There were lots of babies and toddlers at the restaurant.  It’s such a joy to see happy children! They are God’s treasures and the hope for tomorrow.  Then I went to Wal Mart and got much needed groceries.  I also got me a couple of strange gifts; a purple stapler, and a lanyard with peace symbols on it. The stapler has a pencil sharpener on it and a staple remover.  Does everything but wash dishes!  Anyway, I’m looking forward to another year.  Here’s the link to the pics I took on Instagram.

Such a disgrace the outcome of the trial of the former Florida neighborhood watchman who murdered 17 year old Trayvon Martin in cold blood.  He is set free and charges were dropped.  Where is true justice? Now this murderer is going to go to law school, and as he says, “help people who are wrongly accused as he was.”  What a  joke!  There was no wrong about it!  He did it, he knows it.  It’s just disgusting what people get away with now.  Something HAS to be done!  Of course there’s the Florida “Stand Your Ground” law.  This is a very important law but it appears it’s being abused so criminals can literally get away with murder by claiming they were the ones in danger.  Though this murderer eventually was acquitted because he claimed he acted in self defense instead of this law there’s still cause to question it. There’s a petition being circulated on line against this law.  If you’re interested click on the link below.

It seems like the worse crime you commit the more people love you.  Well, I won’t, and I pray somebody can do something to fix a system that  allows it.  As I have said before about others, who in their right mind would want this waste of oxygen representing them in court?  Lies, lies and more lies. What the hell has happened to America?  I now see The Department Of Justice may be stepping in to decide if federal prosecutors should file criminal civil rights charges.  Yes, please, anything to change the outcome of this insanity called a trial.
I’m sure my old friend Dr. Martin Luthor King Jr, who prefers my typo of his middle name to his original version, doesn’t mind at all that people who support 17 year old Trayvon Martin’s family are circulating a picture on social media of him wearing a hoodie.  This captures the link between the case, The Civil Rights Movement, and the fight for racial equality.
I see the former chief of The Jamaat-e-Islami Party in Bangladesh has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for war crimes during the 1971 independence war in that country.  This falls into the what the hell? category.  I agree with the judges who said he should be executed.  After all he’s 91 and in a wheel chair.  To keep him in jail for the rest of his life should be considered cruel and abusive punishment.  Yet his age is why they say they’re not giving him capital punishment.  Needless to say everyone was mad about this choice.  Both the defense and prosecution will appeal.  Of course I say they should give this waste of oxygen what he deserves, capital punishment and get it over with.  Save everybody’s time and money.  It’s not our way to make people suffer no matter what they’ve done.
It appears Apple needs to put the word out even more that no one should answer a cell phone that is charging.  A 23 year old woman in Singapore found out the hard way as she collapsed and died after getting an electric shock after taking a call on her IPhone last Thursday. The company is giving condolences to her family, saying they’ll investigate this fully and cooperate with authorities.  The woman’s sister sent out a warning on Twitter saying no one should do this which went viral.  I always make sure I unplug my cell phone before using it.  I hope everyone else will from now on too.
Singer Whitney Houston, who died last year, now has a tombstone which has on it “I Will Always Love You,” that are lyrics in a song she made popular. An interesting bit of trivia. That song was written and originally performed by Dolly Parton.  Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown became engaged last week to Nick Gordon, who hung out in Bobbi’s home so much while growing up she had to state that he was not her brother or adopted brother while announcing their engagement.  I’m glad she’s doing well and that her mom is officially remembered with the marker.
In the what in the hell category a 45 year old Brazilian man has been crushed to death by a 3,000 pound cow that fell through his roof!  No, it hadn’t been caught up in a tornado.  The cow had escaped from a nearby farm.  The victim’s house is right next to a steep hill. The cow fell from this.  The man and his wife were asleep when the animal crashed into his roof and landed on him.  He suffered a broken leg.  His wife and the cow are fine however he was taken to a nearby hospital and later died, apparently from internal injuries.  His mother said when her son was two years old he almost died from meningitis but she was able to get medicine for him, now this.  Condolences to the poor man’s family. What a shock!  Let’s keep cows falling through roofs on Sesame Street and Muppet movies where it’s funny and much safer.
