An Open Letter From Speaker Gerald Polley

To The World

Boy, God's stealing all my thunder!  Every time I plan on talkin' about something He hits it!  But one thing He didn't mention was stem cell research.  Now, I'm totally for stem cell research. I will make sure that there's no federal regulations and we'll do our best to stop state regulations against research.  However, I don't think the federal government should be paying for it. This should be up to medical schools and pharmaceutical companies.  At least until the financial situation gets better.  I don't believe the government should be doing research in pharmaceuticals.  If something should be found in the course of some research, I believe the government should not give it away.  That if some pharmaceutical company produces it the government should get a share of the profits if it was developed at government expense. This idea of the government just giving stuff away I have never liked, when it was developed at government expense.  Some pharmaceutical company shouldn't be making millions of dollars selling something that was developed by the government.  A share of that should go back to the government and be used for the people.  The idea of it not being has always disturbed me.  It was simply not my People's way!
We're going to be really stingy on grants.  I believe a lot of these things should be taken care of by the public sector.  Of course I'm not going to be liked by the people that want the government to pour money into everything so they can profit from it, but I think the greatest majority of people will look favorably on my ideas.  And before anybody says anything, a bunch of stem cells in a beaker is not a living organism.  They haven't got a brain, they haven't got a soul.  Anybody that thinks they do is gone a little bit to far around the corner and left their common sense behind!
I've been asked again if I'm still against nuclear power.  Was talking about when we tried to shut down the nuclear power plant in Maine.  'Fraid so.  That's an opinion that will never change.  Nuclear power plants are like playing Russian roulette with an automatic pistol.  Sooner or later we're going to have a catastrophe.  If we do have one I hope it's on the east coast, and not the west coast, but as soon as possible I'd like to replace all nuclear power plants with wind generators and solar panels, no one will ever convince me that nuclear power is inexpensive.  We heard that here in Maine, and then when the nuclear plant was shut down it was found they'd spent the trust fund trying to make useless repairs and the state was stuck taking care of the nuclear waste.  So each year the cost of generating that electricity that was so cheap goes up and up because the state is stuck taking care of the spent fuel.  That's why I want to get that storage facility that was built open and get this stuff out of populated areas.  It's gotta go somewhere!  I'm definitely not going to do like the French and put it on an active volcano that could pop its cork any time!  I just don't think this is a good idea!  Sooner or later we're going to have a cloud of radioactive dust orbiting the Earth.  Everybody knows The French aren't too bright. Look what they did in Libya!  But we gotta have a place to store this stuff until we can build space ships safe enough to take it up and send it into the sun.  If we don't find some practical use for it.  You never know!  In time we might find some safe use for it that could benefit everybody!  But I think it's gonna take a while. We can always dig it back up again.
Had to laugh!  Saw an article saying that Catholic bishops were worried about the persecution of Christianity, and that it was failing in The United States, and that Christians may soon be persecuted for their faith. Well, there's only one thing I can say.  You're responsible for it, fellas!  You've turned the world against Christianity.  You drove away Jesus because you like little boys.  You're the ones to blame.  If you hadn't messed things up so bad, Christianity would still be going strong and be a positive influence on the world.  So don't blame other people, fellas!  Put the blame where it lies!
