It is one of the saddest circumstances I run into that Christians base most of their belief on an absolute fraud- the so-called Book of Revelation, which is basically nothing but a cheap copy of the Book Of Daniel with a few other Jewish legends and other peoples' prophecies thrown in besides.
The Jews could not be made to understand by their prophets, that the resurrection to Eternal Life was a Spiritual one.  The Jews continued to insist that a resurrection could not take place without a physical body.  This misunderstanding was one of the things that caused them to reject their Messiah, and is responsible for much of the suffering that they have endured through the ages.
Christ said "I go to prepare a place for you, and when the time is right I will return for you, and take you unto it."  What He meant was that He would return for each of them when they died, and take them to their Reward, which He faithfully did.
But the Jews entering into Christianity were still looking for the physical resurrection of the dead.  So to make more converts, the evil priesthood created The Book Of Revelation to give them their desire, and have created the misconception that has led so many to The Second Death.  Woe to the folly of man, how those suffer who have led the innocent astray.  As long as one child is corrupted by the evil they did, they can never be at peace.  Such is their eternal punishment.
