December 12, 1998

I had to go in to work tonight to help with a big banquet. I'm not usually on the streets after seven. But as I was walking to work about that time there was a bunch of girls coming up the street ahead of me making faces at the people at the restaurants.
As I neared them the oldest one, perhaps 11, came up to me with a big grin on her face.
"Want me to be Monica for you?" she asked.
All the girls gave a loud giggle and they ran off down the street. What are we teaching our children? What ARE we teaching them?
