YOU GOTTA HAVE HEARTS
By; Speaker Gerald A. Polley
We are often asked about the physical differences between our
Ancestors. Some of them were so like human beings that it is amazing.
Others were
so unlike them as to be extroadinary. As The Havens were creatures who
had evolved to fly they had many adaptations that made them quite
different. One of those was the fact that they did not have a single
two-chamber heart like human beings, but they had four single chamber
hearts...two primary ones, and two secondary ones. The two primary
hearts provided the same function as did the human heart. One pumped
blood into the lungs to be
oxydized and the other circulated it through the body. The main purpose
of the two smaller secondary hearts was to provide extra circulation to
the wing muscles during flight, to provide them with additional oxygen
and nutrients. They also had the secondary function of letting the
primary
hearts rest during sleep. The primary hearts could slow down, or even
stop while the secondary hearts beat, allowing the primary hearts to
rest.
A tremendous advantage!
Deaths from heart attacks were rare, especially in the later ages when
we had incredible medical treatments, but they did occur. It would
require both the primary hearts to be struck simultaneously, and for
horrendous damage to be done. but it could occur.
The Hashon and The Peepian hearts were almost identical to human
hearts, and had most of their frailties. The Peepian hearts were even
located
in the same position! The Hashons', however, were commonly on the
opposite side of the chest. Our differences were sometimes, as I say,
incredible! But then our similarities were just as wondrous, wondrous,
indeed!
