evening his wife asked him what he was writing, and Muhammed told her.  "Is this what the Christians call an Angel?" she asked.
"I believe this is so!" Muhammed answered.  "I am not sure, but I believe, indeed, this Haven is what they call an Angel. "
And it became their practice, each night, for Muhammed to sit and write, and then for them to discuss what he had written.  And this went on for some time.  Then, one night, Muhammed heard a noise as they were working, and signaled his wife to keep talking.  And he slipped from the house.  And in the shadows near his window, he saw two figures, and approached them.  It was Ali, his wife's cousin, who lived with them, for he was an orphan, and his friend, Asha, who was the slave of a neighbor, but often spent the night in Muhammed's house.
"What are you two doing here?" Muhammed snapped. "Why are you spying on us?  Be gone!"
Both young men jumped, and came out of the shadows.  "Oh, Prophet Of The One True God!"  Ali cried, "Forgive us!  We accidentally heard you and your wife talking of the wondrous things you had learned, and became enthralled with them.  We meant no harm.  We only wanted to learn more. Please do not send us away!"
Muhammed softened.  "Then do not hide out in the shadows like thieves!"  he remarked.  "Come in!  Hear what is being said! You are welcome!"
So the two young men joined in the discussions.  Then, one night Asha brought his master!  "Voice Of The One True God," he apologized, "my master was speaking of something about The Christian Teachings which he is very wise in, and without thinking I told him Muhammed, The Prophet Of The One True God, knows more of these things than these Christians!  And I told him what you have taught me.  Now, he wants to know more. He begs of you to be one of your disciples."
Muhammed was taken back.  "Zayd ibn Haritha," he remarked, "it is you that should teach I!  The reports of your wisdom are far and wide.  Come!  Join in my little discussions!"
And so Muhammed's little group grew.  When Zayd learned that The One True God's Teachings said that men should not keep slaves, but have only hired servants, he freed Asha, and allowed him to take his family name, and gave him his third daughter as wife.  Those about him were amazed!  And a neighbor, Abj Bakr, asked what brought this about, and he learned of Muhammed, and he, too, quickly became a believer.
Now, Muhammed was encouraged to start speaking publicly, but he was hesitant.  Then, one afternoon, as he was in his garden, Northern Star appeared to him before a jujube tree, and said, "Muhammed, you have gathered a considerable following! It is time to begin speaking, to tell all what you have learned!"
Muhammed had been afraid that his first vision was only a figment of his imagination, but now, when he had seen the Haven for a second time, his heart was set.  And when his wife met him in the door and said, "What was that thing I saw speaking to you in the garden?"  Muhammed's heart was set even more.  For his wife, too, had seen the Haven.  And Muhammed began to go about the city speaking to this group of people, and, that, and telling them of The One True God and His Teachings.
And then one day someone asked him "Muhammed, what is this God's name?"  And Muhammed was taken back.  He had not thought of this, but then remembered one evening he had asked Northern Star in the cave.  "What is your word for Truth?"  And Northern Star had answered "Allah," and Muhammed told the people "The One True God's Name is Allah, which means Truth."  And the people liked what Muhammed said, especially the women, for this new God said they were equal, and should be treated justly, that they should receive the same inheritances as their brothers, and, good wages for their labor.  And they encouraged their husbands to hear Muhammed's words, and soon, people stopped worshipping at many of the temples in the city, and priests began to be angry.
But Muhammed did not preach in Mecca, alone, but he went out to all the villages, round about, and to Medina, and preached there.  And several of his disciples went out and taught, also.  And with each passing day the number of his followers grew, and so did the anger against him.
