Chapter Eleven

And the leader of the city was quite upset.  "Muhammed!" he cried, "You have not obeyed my order!  Where are those I ordered you to bring?"
"I have not brought them," Muhammed answered, "nor, will I bring them! They do not wish to abide where they were abiding any more!  Their relationship with the people of those houses is done.  They will return to them under no circumstances.  They have used them to attack me, and, to attack God, and that has condemned them forever."
"I rather like you, Muhammed," the leader of the city answered, "and I was beginning to like this God of yours.  But you have gone too far.  You cannot take a man's children.  That is against all tradition.  Since the beginning of time it has been recognized that the man is the head of the house, and that all in that house belongs to him.
Your daughters bore these men's children.  They belong to them!  You may take your daughters, but you cannot take a man's children.  Return them at once!  I will not have this blasphemy!  Against this I will stand.  If your God is true, you will return what is rightfully these men's.  If you do not, it is obvious your God is not true, is a creature of Darkness, a deceiver, and leading the people astray.
No God would say women have the right to the children! This simply cannot be.  It is against all that has ever been taught, all that has ever been known.  The man is the master!  Obey, or I will have you seized and held until you do obey.  But I will see the children of these men back in their rightful homes.  I will not allow this evil!"
"Yet you will allow the evil that was done to them?" Muhammed asked.
"A father's right," the leader answered, "you do not question how a father disciplines his children!"
"The One True God does!"  Muhammed answered, drawing his sword.  "And I serve Him.  And I will continue to serve him, and I will not stand by the lies of old, the traditions that men have made, to make women their slaves!  If there is any in this hall that is strong enough to take me, let him take me!"
"You come into The Hall Of Judgment," the city leader screamed, "and draw your sword?"
"When there is no justice here," Muhammed answered, "when there is only blind obedience to tradition, I will fight.  For The One True God is the greatest Tradition of all!"
The city leader motioned some of his soldiers to advance, but Muhammed's men drew their swords, and Muhammed withdrew.
"Do not believe Muhammed!"  the city leader called, "Then I will not raise a force against you. I do not fear your God, I have no faith in Him."
"You will!" Muhammed answered, "You will!"
He hurried home, and to his surprise as he entered the courtyard, he found Northern Star sitting on the balcony, watching the yard.  "Good job at the court!" the Haven remarked.
"What is so amusing?" Muhammed asked.
"Oh, nothing serious," the Haven answered.  "Remember that story I taught you, about the men who wouldn't train the women for war?  History's repeating itself!  Got to go do a little scouting.  Everything is set.  You should move just as planned!"
Muhammed nodded, and the Haven faded from view.  As Muhammed turned around, he found Aisha standing in the doorway.  "That was a very strange man!" she remarked.  "How can he appear and disappear like that?  And what are those things on his back? I could see him, yet I couldn't see him!"
Muhammed's eyes widened.  "Woman!" he remarked, "You see far more than you should be seeing!  Go!  Help the other women prepare.  We will be departing soon."
"I don't understand!"  the young woman remarked.  "Some of the people in the house are preparing things to leave, while others seem to be fortifying the house.  Which are we going to do?"
"The one thing they don't EXPECT us to do," Muhammed answered.
"You are very perplexing!"  the young woman remarked, but hurried off.
Muhammed went down to the yard and found Corriculus training the women, but he was doing so alone!  "Why is no one helping you?" Muhammed asked.
"The men refused to help," the Roman answered, saying it is unholy to teach women to use weapons.  I have told them you ordered it!  But they still say they will not obey!"
Muhammed went over to a group of young men sitting by the wall.  "Go and help the Roman," he ordered, "train the women.  There is not much time."
"We are sorry, my lord," one young man answered, "but we cannot!  It is against tradition.  It is against all
