Had a great time despite the fact we messed up big time on the show!
You wouldn't believe what happened! First of all, the limo didn't
show up to take us to the airport for our plane to Minneapolis/St. Paul!
We had to wake our wonderful neighbor up and ask her if she'd give us a ride
there. She immediately agreed, and we arrived in plenty of time.
Later we learned there had been a computer glitch and the order for our ride
didn't register! Then, our original flight was diverted due to the
fog and a jet was held for us while we did security. Gerald lost his
cane and someone brought it to him on the plane the last minute!
Well, after that no problem, got to Los Angeles O.k.. The
good thing is, we got George Harrison's limo driver Murray again to take
us to the hotel! He's so nice and remembered us from February 20th.
Then, we got to meet Uncle Frank!!!!! He's the 71 year old security
guard on the show. I told Gerald I'd love to meet him, and apparently
he told the producer on the phone while I was in the shower and we
got in for rehearsals there was Uncle Frank! He grinned
at me and did that wave with both hands he does and said "Laters!" Then
when we were up on the stage rehearsing with the keyboard waiting for them
to adjust the mic etc, he came over and talked to us. He's sooooo nice!
He asked if he could have a hug and I gave him one. Come to find
out he's been to one city in Maine!
Well, as you probably know we're sick. I've been taking antibiodicts
and ibuprofen after going to the emergency room Sunday with Gerald &
the neighbors because I had nosebleeds and acted weirder than usual.
I have sinusitis and Gerald has the cold he caught from work, plus his
arthritis was bad due to the long plane ride from MN to LA, over 3 hours!
Anyway we'd just received the song the day before, and I had gotten the music
that morning via George Harrison. We didn't know it and had to have
cue cards. During the show Gerald had a bad pain in his ankle
and rushed off the stage in the middle of the song! Anyway this is
SO SWEET! Jimmy called him and got him to come back out. He asked
us to do the song again. Gerald wasn't the only one who messed up
I did too. Anyway we managed to get through the song. When we got done
Jimmy said from his desk. "Now there's a real hero! Gerald Polley,
ladies and gentlemen!' He came over and hugged Gerald. Yes,
he even hugged me! He's cuter in real life.
Uncle Frank came out to say good-bye to us in the theater lobby while
we talked to the director etc. He shook my hand and said "Well, it
turned out good in the end after all!" I said yes and told him it
was great to finally meet him. I was still kind of in shock that we
messed up and everything. We were too tired to go out to eat with
our friend Robert who lives in LA. He had to work so didn't get to
come to the show like before. But I called him for a few minutes.
We were up most of the night coughing. We took cough medicine but it
didn't help. The next day we went home with no problem!
Anyway we're exhausted. But I just needed to give you the details.
The flights were wonderful, the Roosevelt the best as usual! ALSO...big
stuff! We're going to be on a "Making Of" Jimmy Kimmel special they're
going to show instead of reruns. This one about Rich Brown our friend
the director who got us on the show first of all. Also we're going
to be on a Christmas special saying Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
I don't know when it's going to be on but I hope we can get tapes of them
too! I had my Hollywood shirt on I got in Fargo! :)
Well that's the latest! Hope you like it. Hope you got to
see the show. You can read the lyrics to the song we sang on page 29 .
PS A friend of the directors came all the way from NY just to meet us!
We got a request for a copy of Gerald's Whacko book from the director and
famous comedian! Also they still want us back every few months or so
even though we messed up big time! WOO HOO!!!
