David smiled. "Absolutely!" he agreed. "I was having very improper thoughts about these young women as I was empowering them, thoughts I should not be thinking."
Everybody laughed. "Absolutely not!" Jesus answered, before anyone else could speak. "What you were feeling is perfectly natural. These young women are devoted to us. They would sacrifice their lives for us. They would do anything in their power to please us. We can't help but pick those things up and respond to them as any natural male would. Their pure, innocent love freely given would make any man desiring of them! It actually helps us transfer the power! I think, in reality, they would be quite disappointed. They would not feel feminine if we were not attracted to them. It is all perfectly natural, and perfectly understandable and nothing to be ashamed of."
"Well," David sighed, "if You tell me it's all right, then I have no shame for feeling those feelings at all! Thank you!"
"After you've been on a mission like this," John Lennon put in, "you're very glad you have a wife to go home to, or with, or whatever way you want to put it!"
His wife jabbed him in the ribs and everybody roared with laughter. "Well, we'd better get everybody home!" The Ancient One put in. They took flight, returning to the monument, and everybody dispersed.
"Will you answer one more question for me," David requested, "before we depart?"
"Certainly!" The Ancient One agreed. "What? What troubles you?"
"How do you do all these things day after day and then get up and go to a menial job and live in so much discomfort? I've read the reports, and I can't understand. Don't you ever get frustrated? Don't you ever get angry? Don't you ever want to say 'To hell with it! Let them destroy themselves! I won't suffer like this! I can leave any time I want to!' How can you do it, night after night, day after day? I'd go mad! I'd go totally insane!"
The Ancient One laughed. "There's some that say I already have," he answered. "They're constantly suggesting I have therapy. But the answer is very simple. I'm a parent fighting for the survival of my children, and there's nothing so tenacious, nothing more dangerous than that! Anything or, anyone that gets in a parent's way that's trying to protect their children is in extreme danger! It's that simple! We would give Our immortal existences for Our children. Some of Us already have. We will never abandon them. If necessary We will still be here comforting the last one when it perishes."
"God forbid!" Esther snapped, "God forbid! That must never happen! That can never happen!"
"Unless we get support," The Ancient One answered, "there's still a very high probability that it will happen. See you tomorrow!"
David and Esther watched them soar away, deep despair on their faces. Then, they turned and headed for their home.
