The scene switched back to the reporter. "There you have it, ladies and gentlemen!" he concluded, "the return of some proud and valliant men from an heroic mission that will probably become historical. To repeat, ALL of North Korea's weapons of mass destruction have been destroyed. They no longer have any nuclear, chemical, or biological ability, except perhaps for some small amounts already in the field. And though these brave men do not believe in Him, may God bless them, each and every one!"
"So must it be!" The President agreed, nodding for the television to be turned off.
Sing took The President's hand. "Is that brave man dying?" she asked.
The President nodded.
"AIDS," he answered, "Type C. The antibodies and vaccine arn't effective against it. His unit was deliberately infected with it while he was on a peace keeping mission. Fortunately it was detected before they returned home and infected their families."
"What happened to his wife?" Sing asked.
"She died in an auto accident several years before. One of those freak things. Something fell off the back of a truck, caused her car to flip over and go down an embankment."
"You KNOW a lot about him," Sing put in.
"When it was thought we might be related," The President explained, "we started corresponding. We've continued ever since. He's a fine young man. His daughter and my wife are quite close. You'd enjoy meeting them."
"I most certainly will!" Sing assured.
"Well," The President grimaced, "those reporters are going to have some hard questions. I'd better be ready to answer them."
He picked up a pile of notes and began to read. Everybody in the room became quiet while he worked.
