Parade Permits
All Christians should oppose any law requiring the
citizens of a community to get a permit to peacefully demonstrate. If a
people choose to have a public gathering to oppose some action that the
local government or some local group is taking they should not be
required to obtain the
government's permission for such a protest. As long as that protest is
conducted
in a peaceable manner.
This is not saying that if people are planning a parade
to celebrate some historical occasion they should not make the public
officials aware of it, so that they can prepare for such an occassion.
But no public official should have the right to say that any group
cannot peacefully protest because they did not first seek his
permission. People need no man's permission to express their feelings,
only God's.
