PRAYER
As shocking as it may sound to some a true Christian, a
true
Christian party would not support the struggle to put prayer back in
the
public schools. There are reasons for this.
First of all and most importantly being prayer never
LEFT the public schools!
There is no school in America where a Christian cannot
close their eyes and silently pray to Good, and have God hear them
clearly and distinctly.
A Christian can pray any time, any where they want to. What those who
are
making an issue out of prayer in school want, is to make EVERYONE in
the
schools pray according to their particular doctrine, to pray in their
particular
cult's form. They want to be able to make others follow their religious
doctrine
and this is funndamentally wrong!
God cannot be forced on people. They must welcome God
into their hearts joyously and freely. Any attempt to MAKE people
believe destroys all hope OF them believing.
It is not for the Christian to go into public places
and scream
the prayers of their particular doctrine. It is for them to pray
sincerely, in their hearts, not where MAN will hear, but, where GOD
will hear.
This is why prayer must be kept out of the public
schools, so that each individual Christian may pray in his or her OWN
way, and not be forced to pray according to the wishes of some
collection of ministers.
This will be very hard for some to accept, but it is
something that must be accepted.
However, The Kingdom Of God sees no harm in allowing
prayer during extra-curricular activivies AFTER school. But again it
should not be
organized pray led by some particular priest or minister, but a few
minutes should be set aside so that each person can speak to God in
their own way, and from their own heart.
We see no harm in this whatsoever, but we believe the
law should be made very precise, that it be very clear that no one is
to lead anyone else in prayer, but that a person can rise and call for
a few moments of silence and permit those who wish to pray to do so in
their own way.
The law should be so written that any who violate it,
any who declare that they are going to lead the prayer and everyone
must pray in their way should be severely punished for doing so.
It should be very clear that any teacher who persecutes
any student because they will not pray in the manner that the teacher
wants should be dismissed immediately, and even fined or imprisoned for
violating the law.
The schools must become a place where people of every
denomination, of every creed can send their children with the clear and
certain knowledge that they will not be persecuted because of their
particular religious beliefs whatever they might be.
No matter how much a teacher WANTS to teach a child his
or her particular doctrine the public school is not the place, and
teachers
must understande that, as hard as it will be for some to understand
that,
it is something that MUST be done.
The Bible In School
Though The Kingdom Of God does not believe that
organized prayer should be returned to public schools They do believe
that Christian children should have some rights to express their
beliefs in school. One
of the things They would like to see is that Christian children be
allowed
to use stories from the Bible for book reports and things like that.
The Bible is the greatest literature in the world. It
has been written by the greatest writer in the universe. It is as good
as anything that has been written by man. And a Christian child should
be able to share the joy they find in it with others.
Any child that wishes to use, say, the story of Joseph,
or, the story of David slaying Golliath should be able to do so. Not
only Christian children should be able to use the stories from their
religious teachings, but children of other faiths also should be able
to use the stories that inspire
their beliefs. But this should only be the decision of the students. No
teacher
should be allowed to MAKE any student use any part of the Bible or any
other
religious teaching as a school project. Any teacher that tries to do so
should
be immediately dismissed. But if a student of their own free will wants
to
use something from their religious teachings, they should be allowed to
do
so. This is only fair and decent.
